This is where you have your main router near your Modem, and then 1 or 2 remote Wifi Mesh routers to bring Wifi into other areas. If you had poor Wifi in an Area, I would suggest one of the Mesh type router setups. You're not going to do this in an Apartment you don't own!!!! Generally for the AP, it either needs to be mounted on a wall or the ceiling, depending on the AP. That of course means running an Ethernet wire to them. The problem with APs, in general, is you need to put them where Wifi is weak. I have an Unifi UXG-Pro Gateway (Router), a 48 port Switch, and a couple of APs, (Wifi Access Points). With higher-end hardware, that can even be broken up. It's a Router, Switch, and Wifi built-in. That really isn't normal, and not sure if just getting your own Wifi router would fix that. It's not fast as it could be and distance can be poor.īut you are saying you are getting random disconnects with devices right near it. What you get from your ISP is a Modem, Router, Switch, & Wifi all in one.
